all about perspective

I'm currently reading a book, that my pastor gave me, about the Reformation and Counterreformation in Spain. It isn't a subject that makes most of the history books here in Spain and even when the Inquisition is discussed rarely do they talk about the many evangelicals that were killed. Today, I went to Sevilla to walk the streets that so many of those condemned people walked: from Triana where they were held to the Plaza de San Francisco where they were condemned to the Prado de San Sabastian where El Quemadura where an unnumbered people were burned. I had been to all of these places before but somehow sitting in those places, trying visualize the people both those who watched it happen and those condemned. What were they thinking? Did anyone want to put a stop to it? Were those carrying out the orders ashamed what they were doing? Did the families of the condemned come? Do any of the people who walk those streets today have any idea of what happend in these places? How do we shift the wind of Inquisition and fear of the evangelicals that people don't even know why exists? How do we step out of the past and point people toward Jesus Christ?
